We run a weekly volunteering programme to help us complete tasks that we may not have had time to complete as part of our normal day-to-day horticulture supporting our learners & trainees.
We meet every Thursday from 9.30 until 3.30 and provide all our volunteers with a free lunch, all tools and equipment and any training necessary to carry out the tasks we need to undertake.

Throughout the seasons we will change the work we do according to what is most needed, so this will cover tasks such as:-
Winter pruning of our apple trees
Christmas tree planting & pruning
Apple tree grafting
Weeding
Mulching
Compost Heap creation & maintenance
Sowing & planting crops in the ground
Side-shooting and winding cucumber and tomato plants
Harvesting
Apple Pressing & Pasteurising
Wreath making harvesting & preparation
You will form a valuable part of a team led by our Growth Manager, Sally, who will set and plan and explain the tasks, give tool talks and guidance and work alongside you each week with our horticultural assistant, Toby.

We have 217 apple trees and 120 varieties so our apple season and orchard management work is extensive so our volunteers will play a vital role in supporting this work.

To get involved, please email Sally on hort@kehellandtrust.org.uk to express your interest in joining the volunteer team.
We work with vulnerable adults across our site and it is vital that potential volunteers read and understand the guidance notes below before joining us. Thank you.
