Section Four - Perennials - Plants that come back every year

ree

Meet Martina, Section 1 lead at Kehelland Trust....

This section is responsible for a lot of bench work; growing on our perennial plants from seed right through to sales-ready 2ltr pots and bigger. They are based up in our covered sales area so they get lots of contact with members of the public coming in to buy plants and spend time dead-heading the pot-grown stock and keeping the sales are watered and looking tip-top.

All the plants grown in this section are chosen, not just to look amazing and to be successful in gardens, but also that they are good for use as cut flowers and for nectar and pollen for our pollinators.

This section is also responsible for propagating perennial and woody herbs from seed and cuttings, our potted apple tree stock and our Wild Gardens project in which we grow a selection of important perennial wildflower plugs to be sold bare-root for naturalising in lawns and newly created wildlife spaces.  They have grown wildflowers for the National Trust, Buglife, Cormac & more.
