Apple Day 2025

We have been so heartened by the whole experience of Apple Day 2025.

From the most incredible staff, volunteer, trainee and learner team that have spent weeks preparing the site, gathering things in, sweeping, weeding, sign-making, painting, cutting, sticking, measuring, harvesting to everyone who came along to enjoy the day. Thank you.

We had a fantastic array of apple-related activities - Juice pressing (both manual and electric-hydro) a 90 strong apple exhibition with around 40 varieties available for tasting, juice tasting, cider, apple games like eating apples on strings, Pin the Maggot on the Apple & the William Tell Apple Shy as well as flower crown and corn dolly workshops, blacksmith, weaving and felt making demonstrations.

Visitors enjoyed a wide variety of food - from local-beef smash burgers to vegan chilli and nachos, jackets and, a first for 2025 was the addition of real coffee in the orchards which was reportedly very welcome! The mini farmers market was stocked with fresh veg, bread, honey and eggs and was sharing space with Moorland Distillery & King Fudge - a nice combination!

Cornhill Farm brought their chickens, egg-grading equipment and gorgeous piglets, who did a great job of recycling apple cores.

Entertaining us were Hotchpotch theatre with Seemore Gardens and circus skills, performers Saxophone quartet 4thought, Sylvie & Gavin Nichol, Out of the Wood, Kessenyan, Julian Gaskell & His Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, Carn Brea Morris, Cornish Maids Shimmies, Harry & Olly Kessell and the Kessell Ceilidh Collective drew apple day to a fun-filled dance-fuelled happy finale.

Thank you to all the exhibitors who came to share their skills and knowledge making Apple Day a rich experience for visitors who were able to find out about all things flora and fauna alongside all our Kehelland Apple Antics.

Our maintenance team led woodworking workshops where visitors could make a garden dibber using our lathe, or construct a bird nesting box. Chris Frisby traditional boats displayed his work along with demonstrating steam bending wood.

Tregonings brought their man-powered carousel and Ian Mitchell and friends brought 2 beautiful miniature traction engines 'Puffer' and 'Demelza' and gave rides in and around our Christmas Tree plantation.

Thanks to all our raffle prize donors too!
